Claims of Political Victimisation Surface in Barbuda After Worker Transfer<\/strong><\/p>

A Barbuda resident and supporter of the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) has raised concerns about alleged political victimisation after a transfer letter from the Barbuda Council was circulated on social media following the April 30 general election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The claims were shared by social media user Emrick John, who alleged that several ABLP supporters in Barbuda were being targeted after the Barbuda People\u2019s Movement (BPM) retained control of the sister isle in the election.<\/p>

\u201cVictimization done start,\u201d one post stated, urging supporters to share transfer letters and \u201cexpose them.\u201d<\/p>

Another post included a photograph of a letter issued by the Barbuda Council dated May 7, 2026, informing a woman identified as Kerry Warren that she had been transferred to the Sir McChesney George Secondary School cafeteria as a cleaner effective May 8.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The letter, signed by the Secretary\/CEO of the Barbuda Council, outlined her work hours and instructed her to report to a supervisor at the school.<\/p>

John claimed the employee was transferred because she openly supported the ABLP during the election campaign.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

No evidence was provided in the posts linking the transfer directly to political affiliation, and the Barbuda Council has not publicly responded to the allegations.<\/p>
