The Antigua & Barbuda Defence Force (ABDF), in collaboration with the Fisheries Division,<\/p>

Here by informs the public that the annual closed season for spiny lobster and Chub\/parrot fish will take effect on May 1, 2026.<\/strong> This measure is mandated under national Fisheries regulations to protect marine resources during their breeding period and ensure long-term sustainability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These restriction supply to all individuals, restaurants, vendors, and exporters within Antigua & Barbuda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u25aa Spiny Lobster:<\/strong> May1 – June 30, 2026
\u25aa Chub\/Parrotfish:<\/strong> May 1 – July 31, 2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\n\n\n

Enforcement & Penalties<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ABDF and Fisheries Division will conduct compliance checks at ports, restaurants, fish markets, and coastal areas. Violations of the closed season regulations may result in:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u25aa Fines up to $50,000.00xcd<\/strong>
\u25aa Confiscation of catch
\u25aa Possible prosecution under national fisheries law<\/p>\n\n\n\n
