Candidate E. P. Chet Greene says he expects to win about 85 per cent of the vote in St. Paul as he seeks a fourth consecutive term in Thursday\u2019s general election, expressing strong confidence in both his campaign and the governing Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party.<\/p>

Speaking during a \u201cKnow Your Candidate\u201d interview, Greene said feedback from constituents and internal assessments point to a decisive result in his favour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cUnofficial polls are suggesting an 85-15 spread in terms of vote,\u201d he said. \u201cIt sounds pretty much like what we expect based on the commitments we\u2019ve had and the engagement we\u2019ve had with people.\u201d<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Greene, who has represented St. Paul since 2014, attributed his confidence to what he described as sustained work across the constituency, including support for schools, churches and community programmes.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt is not anything that\u2019s happened overnight,\u201d he said. \u201cIt is really predicated on work that\u2019s been done.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also dismissed his challengers, arguing that neither poses a serious threat to his re-election bid. Referring to the independent candidate, Greene said the candidacy was \u201cof no relevance,\u201d while criticizing the opposition United Progressive Party\u2019s selection.<\/p>

\u201cYou don\u2019t go in a community a month or two for election and expect people to vote for you,\u201d he said, adding that some residents were \u201coffended by the notion\u201d of what he described as an outsider candidate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Greene said he remains confident heading into polling day, citing strong support on the ground and longstanding ties to the constituency where he was born and raised.<\/p>

\u201cI go into elections feeling very confident, very comfortable,\u201d he said. \u201cBased on the work I\u2019ve done, me and my team, I remain confident of the election on the 30th of this month.\u201d<\/p>

Beyond his own race, Greene predicted a wider victory for the ABLP, suggesting the party could secure all 17 seats in Parliament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAll seats are in play,\u201d he said. \u201cThere\u2019s a national swing towards the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
