Hundreds of family members, friends, classmates and residents have gathered for a candlelight vigil in memory of 18-year-old Brianna Clarke, a culinary student who was shot dead in Point on March 26.<\/p>

The vigil, organised by her family, began at Baker\u2019s Corner in the Point community on Thursday night before mourners walked through Bryons Street and Hand Street, stopping briefly near the location where Clarke was found. The procession ended at Paradise Cove, where tributes, prayers and reflections were shared.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Candles and phone lights illuminated the route as the crowd moved in silence, with music and song later forming part of the final gathering.<\/p>

Clarke\u2019s grandmother, Blondelle Hopkins, described her as a calm and gentle presence in the family, recalling her love of cooking and her dislike of conflict. She also performed an emotional rendition of Tian Winter\u2019s Glass House<\/em>, saying it was one of her granddaughter\u2019s favourite songs.<\/p>

Family members spoke of Clarke\u2019s aspirations to become a private chef, while her sister, Oshari Joseph, described her as her \u201cbest friend,\u201d with whom she shared a close childhood bond.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other relatives and friends remembered her as quiet, kind and compassionate, saying she had a way of making people feel valued. One friend said she \u201calways had a way of making everyone feel seen, valued and loved.\u201d<\/p>

Clarke and another victim, Lewis, were shot outside their Hand Street residence on the morning of March 26. Police have since detained two suspects, aged 19 and 24, as investigations continue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her funeral is scheduled for Thursday, May 21 at 2:30pm at St Andrew\u2019s Anglican Church.<\/p>
