Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) candidate for St. Peter Rawdon Turner is pointing to ongoing housing construction in the constituency as evidence of delivery, highlighting 13 homes nearing completion in Pares Village and plans for a further 21 units in Parham.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking during an election interview on ABS, Turner said the housing push is aimed primarily at giving young people a pathway to homeownership, describing it as a direct response to concerns raised during community consultations.<\/p>

\u201cIn Pares Village now\u2026 we currently have about 13 homes under construction,\u201d Turner said, noting that several of the units are already at an advanced stage, with roofing, doors and windows installed.<\/p>

He added that a second phase of development is expected to begin in the Vernon area of Parham, where 21 additional homes are planned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are going to have 21 young professionals being given the opportunity to own your own home, turn your own key, and to have your own place,\u201d Turner said.<\/p>

Turner framed the initiative as part of a phased approach to addressing housing demand within the constituency rather than a single large-scale project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said the developments are being rolled out in smaller clusters across communities to better match available land and the needs of residents, particularly younger people seeking to move out of family homes.<\/p>

\u201cWe start in phase one\u2026 we\u2019re looking at different, various small parcels within the various communities that we can make intervention,\u201d he said.<\/p>

The St. Peter candidate said the housing programme emerged directly from feedback gathered during door-to-door engagement, where residents repeatedly raised concerns about access to affordable homes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe have a number of young people who are interested in branching out from their parents\u2019 home,\u201d Turner said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He acknowledged that demand still outpaces supply but said the current projects represent the first phase of a broader effort to expand housing access in St. Peter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The housing developments form part of Turner\u2019s wider campaign message centred on infrastructure, employment and community development, as he seeks re-election in the April 30 general election.<\/p>\n
