Nigel Bascus, leader of the Missing Link\u2013Voice of the People Party (MLVOP), is seeking to contest St John\u2019s Rural West in Antigua and Barbuda\u2019s April 30 general election, positioning himself as an alternative to the two major parties.<\/p>

A fisherman by trade, Bascus said he is not motivated by money or status. \u201cI\u2019m not running for a bigger paycheck\u2026 I\u2019m just running to make my country better,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He is expected to face ABLP candidate Michael Joseph and UPP\u2019s Richard Lewis, once he secures the ten nominations required.<\/p>

Bascus said his campaign will focus on agriculture and aquaculture, arguing that both sectors have been neglected despite their importance to food security. He also pointed to his training initiative aimed at equipping people with skills in farming and fishing.<\/p>
