United Progressive Party (UPP) candidate for All Saints West, Harold Lovell, publicly endorsed party leader Jamale Pringle while calling for unity and national change during a candidate ratification event on Tuesday night.<\/p>

Addressing supporters, Lovell framed the upcoming election as a pivotal moment for the country, declaring that \u201cwe are at that point where change is necessary.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He used the platform to reinforce confidence in Pringle\u2019s leadership, telling the audience: \u201cAs I stand, I am happy to say that we stand behind the honorable Jamal Pringle,\u201d signaling what he described as a unified front heading into the general election campaign.<\/p>

The former finance minister also sought to define the UPP\u2019s broader political identity, describing it as more than a traditional party. \u201cThe United Progressive Party is not just a political organization. It is a movement,\u201d Lovell said. \u201cIt is a movement that puts people first\u2026 a philosophy which says that the people must be the center of development.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He told the crowd that despite attempts to divide the party, its members remain cohesive. \u201cThe enemy has tried to divide us\u2026 but I\u2019m here tonight to tell you\u2026 we are united. We are strong. We stand together.\u201d<\/p>

Framing the election in populist terms, Lovell argued that the contest would be driven by the will of the electorate rather than those currently in office. \u201cThe power in the people is greater than the people in power,\u201d he declared to applause.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lovell closed his remarks with a direct appeal to voters, urging participation in the electoral process. \u201cWe need your voice and we need your vote\u2026 and we\u2019re going to make a change in this country,\u201d he said. \u201cThere\u2019s going to be no turning back\u2026 only going forward.\u201d<\/p>
