ST. JOHN\u2019S, Antigua and Barbuda, April 8, 2026 \u2014 Kiz Johnson says improving infrastructure and expanding opportunities for young people will be immediate priorities for St. Philip South, while outlining a longer-term plan to transform education in the constituency.<\/p>

Johnson identified roads, sporting facilities and youth engagement among the most urgent needs, pointing to gaps in basic infrastructure and community spaces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe need the roads\u2026 we want to see our basketball courts and sporting facilities developed. Young people are relying on us,\u201d she said.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

She also stressed that youth development must go beyond physical upgrades, focusing on empowerment and engagement within communities.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEverything starts from mindset,\u201d Johnson said. \u201cWe could run in and have all sorts of fancy programs\u2026 but if the mind is not where it is supposed to be, then how can we achieve that?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her approach includes direct engagement with young people through discussions and mentorship aimed at helping them identify purpose and direction.<\/p>

\u201cWe\u2019re going to be talking\u2026 we\u2019re going to flesh out life,\u201d she said, adding that meaningful connection at the community level is key to long-term progress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alongside these immediate priorities, Johnson outlined an ambitious vision for education, describing it as central to the constituency\u2019s future.<\/p>

\u201cMy first priority\u2026 is to boost the educational capacity of the people in my constituency,\u201d she said. \u201cTen, fifteen, twenty years from now people should be able to look back and say\u2026 Kiz Johnson caused an educational revolution in St. Philip South.\u201d<\/p>

Johnson said her plans are rooted in consistent community engagement, noting that leadership must be visible and accessible beyond election cycles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are creating options\u2026 to be found, to be reached, and to be contacted,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She also pointed to efforts to unify supporters following a competitive primary, emphasizing that cohesion will be necessary to advance development goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe have a bigger goal\u2026 and if we\u2019re divided, it\u2019s not going to function,\u201d Johnson said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her remarks come as political activity intensifies ahead of the general election, with candidates outlining priorities for infrastructure, youth development and long-term social investment across constituencies.<\/p>\n
