ST. JOHN\u2019S, Antigua \u2014 Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) leader Gaston Browne says his administration has implemented a series of tax cuts, subsidies and social programmes aimed at easing the cost of living, as the party makes its case to voters ahead of the general election.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Speaking at a campaign launch event at People\u2019s Place, Browne said his government has focused on putting more money into the hands of citizens through targeted policy measures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are putting money into your pockets,\u201d Browne said as he outlined the administration\u2019s approach to economic relief. <\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

He highlighted the removal of personal income tax as a key intervention and pointed to reductions in the Antigua and Barbuda Sales Tax (ABST) on essential goods, saying the changes were designed to make everyday items more affordable.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Browne said the government has also expanded its food assistance programme to support vulnerable households, adding that \u201cevery single person must eat\u201d as he defended the initiative as a necessary safety net. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He further pointed to subsidies aimed at cushioning the impact of global price increases, particularly in fuel and utilities, noting that the government has absorbed costs to prevent higher prices at the pump and for electricity.<\/p>

\u201cWe care about you,\u201d Browne said, describing the measures as part of a broader commitment to protect citizens from rising living costs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
