Nearly half of the roughly 40,000 Antiguans and Barbudans required to replace their voter ID cards have yet to do so, leaving the Antigua and Barbuda Electoral Commission with a significant shortfall.<\/p>

Official figures show 19,567 applications have been received, meaning about 20,000 eligible voters\u2014almost one in two\u2014have not started the process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The replacement drive began in August 2024 for holders of expired cards, but uptake has remained slow. Of the applications recorded, 18,320 were submitted in 2025, with just 1,247 added so far in 2026.<\/p>
