The Ministry of Education, Sports, and Creative Industries is proud to announce the departure of the national delegation for the inaugural\u00a0OECS Super Regional STEAM Robotics Challenge. This landmark event, which has been a subject of regional discussion for several years, marks a turning point in the Caribbean\u2019s commitment to youth-led innovation and technical capacity building.<\/p>

The competition is designed to build technical capacity across OECS Member States, many of whom have already established a presence on the world stage through the First Global<\/em> robotics challenges. This regional event serves as a platform to bridge the gap between local talent and international standards. While 2026 marks the first edition, the Ministry anticipates that this will become an annual fixture on the regional academic calendar, fostering a sustainable culture of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Mathematics) excellence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The five-day challenge will take place from March 16 to 20, 2026, at the St. Kitts Marriott Resort. During this intensive week, teams will engage in rigorous technical trials, collaborative problem-solving, and innovative design showcases.<\/p>

For this inaugural representation, the Ministry utilized a targeted selection model. The team\u2019s foundation is built upon the proven expertise of Mr. Tijah Myers, a distinguished educator at the Irene B. Williams Secondary School, who serves as the National Coach. To ensure seamless coordination and leverage existing synergies, student competitors Micah Matthew and Michael Harvey were selected from the same institution.<\/p>

Going forward, the Ministry intends to implement a more rigorous national selection process. This will draw from the talent pool identified during our annual National STEM Camps and through partnerships with long-standing stakeholders who have championed robotics at the international level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The delegation of Micah Matthew, Michael Harvey, and Coach Myers is driven by a shared excitement to learn and innovate. The team is prepared to absorb every facet of this regional exposure, with the specific goal of returning to Antigua and Barbuda to serve as mentors and catalysts for the growth of the local robotics field.<\/p>
