Antigua and Barbuda and Peru are signalling plans to deepen diplomatic and economic cooperation following the presentation of credentials by Peru\u2019s new ambassador.<\/p>

Peru\u2019s ambassador to Antigua and Barbuda, Gustavo Lamke, formally presented his credentials at Government House before holding courtesy calls with Prime Minister Gaston Browne and Foreign Affairs Minister E.P. Chet Greene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Officials from both countries used the meetings to discuss expanding cooperation in areas including trade, tourism, education and climate-related initiatives.<\/p>

Lamke said Peru is seeking to broaden its relationship with Antigua and Barbuda through stronger political and economic engagement.<\/p>

\u201cPeru wishes to expand its bilateral agenda with Antigua and Barbuda in the political, diplomatic, economic, commercial and cooperation spheres,\u201d the ambassador said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Governor General\u2019s Deputy Sir Clare Roberts welcomed the accreditation, noting that the moment presents an opportunity to deepen collaboration between the two countries.<\/p>

\u201cYour accreditation as non-resident ambassador comes at an important moment for strengthening the relationship between our two countries,\u201d Roberts said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prime Minister Browne pointed to Peru\u2019s strong agricultural sector as an area where technical cooperation could benefit Antigua and Barbuda, particularly in addressing food security challenges.<\/p>

Foreign Affairs Minister Greene also indicated that both sides are interested in strengthening ties through initiatives involving climate change, education, ocean studies and potential student exchanges.<\/p>
