United Progressive Party candidate Alex Browne says a six-point development strategy focused on healthcare, youth opportunities and infrastructure will guide his plans for St. Philip\u2019s North if elected in the March 16 by-election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During an interview on Observer Radio\u2019s Connecting with Dave Lester Payne, Browne said the initiative is designed to address key issues affecting communities across the constituency. <\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBefore I continue with my six levels of upliftment of the community, I just want to make an appeal to all the residents of St. Philip\u2019s North,\u201d Browne said. \u201cPlease make sure you have your cards\u2026 It is very, very important that you have your cards in your hand. That is the only way we\u2019re going to go forward.\u201d <\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Browne said the plan is built around six pillars: improving healthcare services, developing sports and community facilities, expanding youth education and skills training, upgrading infrastructure, supporting agriculture and the environment, and promoting affordable home ownership. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said healthcare improvements would include expanding services at the Glanvilles Polyclinic and strengthening emergency response capabilities in the eastern communities.<\/p>

The candidate also pointed to youth development as a major priority, noting that education and skills training must be strengthened to create opportunities for young people in the constituency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Browne said upgrades to community sports facilities are also needed, including better amenities for residents who use recreational grounds and sporting venues.<\/p>

Infrastructure concerns were another focus during the interview, with Browne raising issues such as water supply and public services.<\/p>

\u201cOne of the stuff that bothers me, Dave, is the water \u2014 the water availability,\u201d Browne said, adding that residents still face inconsistent supply in parts of the constituency. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said his platform also includes stronger support for agriculture and environmental protection while promoting policies aimed at making home ownership more accessible for residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Browne is contesting the St. Philip\u2019s North seat against Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party candidate Randy Baltimore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The by-election is scheduled for March 16 and will determine who fills the vacant parliamentary seat representing the constituency.<\/p>\n
