National School Meals Programme<\/p>

The National School Meals Programme has taken note of a recent social media post circulating in relation to an alleged \u201cvegetarian meal\u201d served at one of our schools. In the interest of transparency and public clarity, we wish to address the matter directly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the time of the incident in question, there were no registered requests for vegetarian meals at the school concerned. As part of our established operational procedures, vegetarian meals are prepared and supplied only upon prior registration, to ensure accurate planning, food safety, and appropriate allocation of resources. Up until the day before the incident, no vegetarian registration had been submitted for that school.<\/p>

On the day in question, the teacher involved did not register for a vegetarian meal. Instead, after arriving at the serving point, the individual opted to take the regular meal and requested only the vegetable components which were provided accordingly. Any subsequent presentation of that meal, particularly in a manner that appears deliberately altered or made unpresentable, does not accurately reflect the standard of service or the quality of meals prepared and served by the Programme.<\/p>

The National School Meals Programme remains steadfast in its mission to ensure that the nation\u2019s children receive balanced, nutritious, and properly prepared meals each school day. While, like any large national programme, we face operational challenges from time to time, we are not lacking in our commitment, our standards, or the quality of food provided. At no time would the Programme knowingly or intentionally serve a meal that is substandard or unfit for consumption.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We strongly encourage members of the public, including educators and stakeholders, to engage responsibly and constructively when raising concerns. Matters relating to service delivery should be brought directly to the attention of Programme officials, where they can be promptly reviewed and addressed. Public misrepresentation or the distortion of facts serves no constructive purpose and undermines a Programme dedicated to the welfare of our children.<\/p>

The National School Meals Programme takes pride in its work and in the dedication of the teams who prepare and serve thousands of meals daily across Antigua and Barbuda. We remain committed to continuous improvement, accountability, and respectful dialogue in the best interest of the children we serve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
