United Kingdom, recently hosted a meeting at the High Commission with the new President and<\/p>

Executive of the Antigua and Barbuda National Association (ABNA).<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The engagement marked the High Commissioner\u2019s first formal meeting with the newly elected President<\/p>\n\n\n\n

of ABNA, Mrs Lyndia Bowers, and her executive team. The meeting provided an opportunity to<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

strengthen collaboration with the diaspora community and to discuss shared priorities for the year ahead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Opening remarks were delivered by the High Commissioner, followed by introductory remarks from Mr<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Dave Ray, Diaspora Liaison Officer in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Antigua and Barbuda, who<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

joined virtually. Mr Ray underscored the importance of deeper coordination among diaspora communities,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

particularly between London and New York, and encouraged greater collaboration in advancing national<\/p>\n\n\n\n

development initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Discussions covered key areas on the agenda, including updates on the High Commission\u2019s programmes<\/p>\n\n\n\n

and projects for 2026, such as activities surrounding Commonwealth Day, celebrations for the 45th<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anniversary of Independence, and preparations for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(CHOGM) 2026. Additional initiatives highlighted included plans for a Heritage Evening, the<\/p>\n\n\n\n

continuation of the annual cricket exchange programme, and collaborative efforts aimed at strengthening<\/p>\n\n\n\n

engagement between elderly and young members of the Antigua and Barbuda community in the United<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kingdom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

President Bowers also outlined ABNA\u2019s recent activities and proposed initiatives for the coming year,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

with emphasis on community engagement, youth involvement, cultural promotion, and strengthening<\/p>\n\n\n\n

support networks across the diaspora.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The High Commissioner stated: \u201cOur diaspora remains an essential partner in Antigua and Barbuda\u2019s development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through sustained dialogue and cooperation with organisations such as ABNA, we can better connect our communities,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

empower our youth, and advance initiatives that benefit our nation both locally and internationally\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mrs Lyndia Bowers, President of ABNA, noted: \u201cThis introductory meeting is very important, as it marks not only<\/p>\n\n\n\n

the beginning of a new working year, but the strengthening of a shared commitment to our people, our culture, and Antiguaand Barbuda\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both the High Commission and ABNA reaffirmed their shared commitment to continued partnership in<\/p>\n\n\n\n

promoting Antigua and Barbuda\u2019s heritage, supporting community development, and encouraging<\/p>\n\n\n\n

meaningful diaspora participation in national progress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The High Commission looks forward to sustained collaboration with ABNA and the wider diaspora as<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Antigua and Barbuda advances its national priorities at home and abroad.<\/p>\n
