The Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre has released its 2025 \u201cBy the Numbers\u201d report, outlining the scale of care delivered across Antigua and Barbuda over the reporting period from January to November 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The snapshot shows 29,449 emergency visits, 24,810 clinic visits and 3,358 surgeries performed. The hospital also recorded 828 births and managed 253 of its most serious cases in intensive and neonatal intensive care units. Cancer care visits totaled 2,160.<\/p>

Behind the clinical totals, the hospital reported more than 720,000 diagnostic and treatment services, including 667,580 laboratory studies, 36,892 radiology studies, 10,307 dialysis treatments and 5,961 rehabilitation treatments. Admissions reached 5,961, supported by 158 beds. A total of 362 eye surgeries were performed.<\/p>

In releasing the figures, the hospital underscored the human impact behind the statistics. \u201cBehind every number is a person. A patient. A family. A life changed,\u201d the statement said. \u201cOur 2025 By The Numbers snapshot is out and it reflects the dedication of hundreds of professionals caring for thousands of people across Antigua and Barbuda.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The facility employs more than 800 people, including over 480 credentialed staff. It reported $147,000 invested in workforce development and $467,657 in community giving.<\/p>

The report also highlighted operational advances during the year, including recognition of its Stroke Centre as a World Stroke Organization Essential Stroke Centre, the transition to paperless emergency department operations, the commissioning of a new incinerator and the recommissioning of its hyperbaric chamber.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis is what it looks like when people show up for people, day in, day out,\u201d the hospital said, thanking staff, partners and the wider community \u201cfor trusting us with what matters most.\u201d<\/p>
