Businessman Raises Alarm Over Alleged Oil Dumping in Five Islands Mangroves<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Businessman and environmental advocate Eli Fuller is calling for an investigation after alleging that thousands of gallons of waste oil were dumped into mangroves near the island\u2019s landfill, contaminating Five Islands Harbour following recent heavy rainfall.<\/p>

In a social media post, Fuller said he had previously warned that oil appeared to be entering the mangroves off the top of the landfill. After record rainfall earlier this month, he said he began receiving reports of oil visible in the harbour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhenever plenty of rain falls oil finds its way to the sea, and yesterday I started receiving calls about large amounts of oil being in Five Islands Harbor,\u201d Fuller wrote.<\/p>

He described the situation as one of the worst environmental incidents he has witnessed, warning of serious cultural, environmental and economic consequences. Mangroves serve as critical nurseries for marine life and help protect coastlines from erosion.<\/p>
