The Antigua and Barbuda Youth Symphony Orchestra (ABYSO) has received a generous donation from\u00a0Itagui Inc.<\/strong>, in support of the Orchestra\u2019s\u00a0Building Fund<\/strong>\u00a0and its\u00a0Train the Trainers Programme<\/strong>.<\/p>

The ABYSO building will serve as the permanent home of the Orchestra, providing a safe, inspiring and purpose-built environment where students can learn, rehearse and grow. The Train the Trainers Programme focuses on developing young leaders by equipping them with the skills to teach a range of orchestral instruments. Through this donation, one of ABYSO\u2019s young trainers will be supported as an Itagui-sponsored chair<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stewart Gordon, representing Itagui Inc., shared his enthusiasm for the programme, stating:<\/p>

The young people who are part of the ABYSO are inspiring examples of what can be achieved when we challenge our youth to embrace excellence. Expressing gratitude on behalf of the Orchestra, Managing Director Claudine Benjamin<\/strong> welcomed the partnership, noting:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are incredibly grateful for partners such as Itagui Inc. who appreciate the work that we do and are willing to support its continuity. This gift will directly support the long-term viability of the Orchestra, and we look forward to continued collaboration with Itagui Inc.\u201d<\/em><\/p>

The ABYSO operates year-round after-school programmes for young people at all levels of instrumental and choral learning, from beginners to senior musicians. Public performances throughout the year showcase the students\u2019 dedication and talent, ranging from orchestral standards and musical theatre productions to intimate chamber performances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, ABYSO\u2019s international partnerships bring world-class musicians, composers and conductors to Antigua and Barbuda to work alongside the young musicians. Traineeships also provide opportunities to develop new or enhanced skills, including instrument repair. The ABYSO is a registered non-profit organisation governed by an eleven-member Board of volunteers drawn from the arts, business and philanthropic communities.<\/p>
