Tourism and Civil Aviation Minister Charles Fernandez<\/strong> says a major runway rehabilitation project at VC Bird International Airport<\/strong> is on track for completion by September 2026, describing the work as a critical investment in national infrastructure and long-term tourism growth.<\/p>

Speaking in a video message outlining the government\u2019s tourism strategy, Fernandez said the US$50 million project is central to improving safety, reliability and operational capacity at the country\u2019s main international gateway .<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAir access and aviation infrastructure remain central to sustaining this growth,\u201d Fernandez said, noting that the runway rehabilitation represents \u201ca critical investment in our national infrastructure\u201d .<\/p>

According to the minister, the project will strengthen the airport\u2019s ability to accommodate increased airlift and support expanded airline operations, positioning Antigua and Barbuda to meet future demand as tourism activity continues to grow.<\/p>
