The government of Antigua and Barbuda has ordered taxi associations to include representatives from the disability community and has directed that accessibility upgrades be made at the country\u2019s cruise port.<\/p>

Prime Minister Gaston Browne announced the measures after reports that a taxi operator had lost his job because of a disability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under the directive, taxi associations will be required to provide space within their leadership structures for members of a disability association, ensuring their participation in decision-making.<\/p>

The Prime Minister has asked Tourism Minister Charles Fernandez to formally advise the Taxi Association of the government\u2019s position and oversee its implementation.<\/p>

Mr Browne also ordered the installation of wheelchair-accessible ramps at the cruise port to improve access for passengers with disabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
