Senator Lamin Newton Begins Master\u2019s Degree in International Relations<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Lamin Newton<\/strong>, the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) caretaker for All Saints East and St. Luke, says he has begun a master\u2019s degree in international relations, encouraging others to continue their education while momentum is strong.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Speaking on The Morning Point<\/em> programme, Newton said he recently enrolled in the postgraduate programme after completing undergraduate studies, stressing the importance of discipline and consistency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSo I have gone on. I have since started a master\u2019s degree in international relations,\u201d Newton said.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>
\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

He told listeners that pausing academic pursuits can derail progress, especially for adult learners.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI want to say to persons who probably like \u2014 they have the mindset of taking a break \u2014 that\u2019s the worst thing you can do,\u201d he said. \u201cWhile you have that momentum and you\u2019re in that mode, just keep going, keep going, and just get it over with.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Newton said his academic journey has required structure and sacrifice, particularly while balancing work and public responsibilities.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAs adults, adult learning sometimes can be a bit challenging,\u201d he said. \u201cBut it just requires discipline.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said the experience reinforced his belief that education remains a critical equaliser in society.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEducation is definitely the key to unlocking the doors to success,\u201d Newton said. \u201cEducation is the one thing that equates everybody across all sectors of society.\u201d<\/p>

Newton said he expects to complete the master\u2019s programme within 18 months and encouraged Antiguans and Barbudans to take advantage of educational opportunities available locally.<\/p>\n
