CNN-<\/strong>US President Donald Trump said that he had cancelled a \u201cpreviously expected\u201d second wave of attacks on Venezuela due to the country\u2019s cooperation with the US.<\/p>

The announcement came in a Truth Social post<\/a> early Friday, in which Trump praised the actions of Venezuela\u2019s acting government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was the first time that the US president mentioned the possibility of another wave of attacks in the country and comes nearly a week after he ordered a military operation to oust former Venezuelan President Nicol\u00e1s Maduro, who is currently in US custody along with his wife Cilia Flores.<\/p>

In his social media post early Friday, Trump said Venezuela was \u201creleasing large numbers of political prisoners as a sign of \u2018Seeking Peace,\u2019\u201d adding, \u201cThis is a very important and smart gesture.\u201d<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Venezuela began releasing the high-profile prisoners on Thursday, including opposition politicians in an effort<\/a> to \u201cseek peace,\u201d the acting government said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump went on say that the two nations are \u201cworking well together, especially as it pertains to rebuilding, in a much bigger, better, and more modern form, their oil and gas infrastructure.\u201d<\/p>

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBecause of this cooperation, I have cancelled the previously expected second Wave of Attacks, which looks like it will not be needed, however, all ships will stay in place for safety and security purposes,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the aftermath of the US operation to oust Maduro, Trump had said the US would effectively \u201crun\u201d the country and did not rule out the possibility of longer-term military involvement.<\/p>

Trump is also set to meet at the White House on Friday with executives from major oil companies to persuade them to increase Venezuela\u2019s oil output and make new investments in the country.<\/p>

He claimed that \u201cat least 100 Billion Dollars will be invested by BIG OIL,\u201d but the oil industry has expressed serious skepticism<\/a> about ponying up tens of billions of dollars over a decade to restore Venezuela\u2019s oil infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
