The\u00a0Division \u00a0is charged with the responsibility to safeguard the economic interests of consumers through three main areas:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Consumer Redress\/Protection<\/li>\n<li>Consumer Education and Empowerment; and<\/li>\n<li>Consumer Research<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The local consumer watchdog agency, the Prices &amp; Consumer Affairs Department seem to be in a deep slumber.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>A few days ago,\u00a0 the Prices and Consumer Affairs Division issued an advisory assuring the public that the Chewy Chips Ahoy Cookies that are currently being recalled have not been found on shelves in Antigua and Barbuda.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Nabisco\u2019s parent company Mondelez Global recall announcement\u00a0referred to the cookies possibly having \u201can unexpected solidified ingredient.\u201d\u00a0It furthered stated that \u201cin some instances, the cornstarch in our Chewy Chips Ahoy! recipe did not fully incorporate in the mixing procedure and solidified in the baking process.\u201d<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The recall covered 13-ounce packs of the cookies with best by dates of\u00a007SEP2019, 08SEP2019, 14SEP2019 and 15SEP2019.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>In their original press release, the\u00a0 Prices &amp; Consumer Affairs division said \u201cOver the past two days the Division has conducted extensive investigations into the recalled good and we are satisfied, that no supplier or retailer in Antigua and Barbuda has the good on the shelf or in their possession.\u00a0 We are therefore assuring consumers that food items with this brand name that are currently being offered for sale in the marketplace are safe and do not meet the recall requirements.<\/p><div id=\"antig-833605168\" class=\"antig-content_5 antig-entity-placement\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/ablpag\" aria-label=\"Full-ABLP-Team-Digital-Billboard-1920x1080px\"><img src=\"https:\/\/mlavawteztbj.i.optimole.com\/w:1920\/h:1080\/q:mauto\/f:best\/https:\/\/antiguanewsroom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Full-ABLP-Team-Digital-Billboard-1920x1080px.jpg\" alt=\"\"  srcset=\"https:\/\/mlavawteztbj.i.optimole.com\/w:1920\/h:1080\/q:mauto\/f:best\/https:\/\/antiguanewsroom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Full-ABLP-Team-Digital-Billboard-1920x1080px.jpg 1920w, https:\/\/mlavawteztbj.i.optimole.com\/w:300\/h:169\/q:mauto\/f:best\/https:\/\/antiguanewsroom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Full-ABLP-Team-Digital-Billboard-1920x1080px.jpg 300w, https:\/\/mlavawteztbj.i.optimole.com\/w:1024\/h:576\/q:mauto\/f:best\/https:\/\/antiguanewsroom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Full-ABLP-Team-Digital-Billboard-1920x1080px.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/mlavawteztbj.i.optimole.com\/w:768\/h:432\/q:mauto\/f:best\/https:\/\/antiguanewsroom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Full-ABLP-Team-Digital-Billboard-1920x1080px.jpg 768w, https:\/\/mlavawteztbj.i.optimole.com\/w:1536\/h:864\/q:mauto\/f:best\/https:\/\/antiguanewsroom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Full-ABLP-Team-Digital-Billboard-1920x1080px.jpg 1536w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 696px) 100vw, 696px\" width=\"1920\" height=\"1080\"   \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>&#8220;The Division takes issues of recalls seriously and we are committed to protecting consumers from any potential hazard.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fast forward a day later and out comes another release stating that after careful review they have uncovered that the recalled <b>Chewy Chips Ahoy!
