Smith Outlines Road, Drainage and Water Upgrades Planned for All Saints West<\/strong><\/h1>\n\n\n\n

All Saints West MP and Agriculture Minister Anthony Smith used his Budget Debate presentation to outline a series of infrastructure upgrades planned for his constituency, telling Parliament that long-neglected communities are finally beginning to see tangible improvements.<\/p>

Smith said the immediate priority in All Saints West is \u201cbuilding out the infrastructure in that constituency,\u201d noting that residents have long called for better roads, proper drainage and consistent water supply<\/strong>. He described these as the essential services the area \u201creally needs\u201d and said delivering them is central to his representation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He told the House that All Saints West and parts of St Peter \u201cmay have been the most neglected over the years,\u201d but said work has already started to reverse that trend. <\/p>

As an example, Smith highlighted the ongoing concrete road project in Lightfoot<\/strong>, saying some families have lived there for more than 40 years without seeing a paved roadway. For the first time, he said, \u201cwe are now pouring concrete road in the Lightfoot community,\u201d marking a significant shift after decades of inaction.<\/p>

Smith also pointed to two additional routes identified for near-term upgrades: Buckley\u2019s main road<\/strong> and the main road in St Clair Heights<\/strong>. He said these will serve as alternate pathways while the heavily travelled All Saints Road undergoes major rehabilitation, assuring residents that \u201cyour roads are coming too.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The MP said the ministry intends to \u201cramp up the work in the constituency,\u201d adding that in just over a year as a first-time representative he has already \u201cstarted to change and deliver for the people in All Saints West.\u201d<\/p>

He framed the infrastructure push as part of a wider effort to bring essential services up to standard and give communities long denied investment a chance to catch up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Smith said the focus for 2026 will remain on addressing longstanding gaps in road quality, water reliability and drainage, emphasising that these improvements form the foundation for broader development in All Saints West.<\/p>
