Opposition Leader Jamale Pringle<\/a> has renewed calls for Attorney General Steadroy \u201cCutie\u201d Benjamin<\/a> to publicly address the fatal police shooting of 18-year-old Bolans resident Kahleel Simon<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Delivering his 2026 Budget rebuttal, Pringle said the community was \u201churting<\/a>\u201d and that Simon\u2019s family \u201cdeserve answers<\/a>\u201d on the progress of the police investigation.<\/p>

\u201cThe family want to know what is the update, Mr AG, from the police on the shooting of Kahleel Simon,\u201d he told Parliament. <\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe have seen, like the Vehicle Gate situation<\/a>, when the government investigates, nothing happens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When the police investigate themselves, justice is rarely served. The silence from the Ministry of National Security is deafening.\u201d<\/p>

Pringle added that the incident had \u201cshaken the nation\u201d, accusing the government of offering \u201cnothing but sweet-sounding things\u201d to a community demanding accountability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Simon\u2019s relatives have staged repeated protests outside Police Headquarters, calling for the removal of the officer who fired the fatal shot and for a swift, transparent inquiry.<\/p>
