America and the Caribbean, the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB), the Inter-American Development Bank Group (IDB Group), the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and the World Bank Group (WBG) have jointly assembled a comprehensive package of up to US$6.7 billion over three years to strengthen Jamaica\u2019s recovery and reconstruction efforts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This coordinated effort&nbsp;<a>reflects a unified commitment to help Jamaica pursue a fiscally responsible, long-term recovery through a combination of emergency preparedness financing, sovereign financing, grant support and private sector investments.&nbsp;<\/a>The announcement comes ahead of the call Prime Minister Holness will hold with representatives from the international financial institutions to This framework facilitated an immediate inflow of critical liquidity to supplement the Government\u2019s own contingency resources, for a total of&nbsp;<strong>US$662 million&nbsp;<\/strong>as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>US$37 million<\/strong>\u00a0from the Government of Jamaica\u2019s Contingency Fund and National Natural Disaster Reserve Fund.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>US$91 million<\/strong>\u00a0from the Caribbean Catastrophe Risk Insurance Facility (CCRIF).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>US$150 million<\/strong>\u00a0from the WBG Catastrophe Bond.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>US$300 million<\/strong>\u00a0available from the IDB\u2019s Contingent Credit Facility (CCF).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>US$42 million<\/strong>\u00a0(scalable to\u00a0<strong>US$84 million<\/strong>) available upon request under the World Bank Group\u2019s Catastrophe Deferred Drawdown Option (Cat DDO).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Recovery Needs and Institutional Support<\/em><\/strong><\/p><div id=\"antig-2567416748\" class=\"antig-content_2 antig-entity-placement\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.courts.com\/antigua\/\" aria-label=\"500X500 (1)\"><img src=\"https:\/\/mlavawteztbj.i.optimole.com\/w:500\/h:500\/q:mauto\/f:best\/https:\/\/antiguanewsroom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/500X500-1.jpg\" alt=\"\"  srcset=\"https:\/\/mlavawteztbj.i.optimole.com\/w:500\/h:500\/q:mauto\/f:best\/https:\/\/antiguanewsroom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/500X500-1.jpg 500w, https:\/\/mlavawteztbj.i.optimole.com\/w:300\/h:300\/q:mauto\/f:best\/https:\/\/antiguanewsroom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/500X500-1.jpg 300w, https:\/\/mlavawteztbj.i.optimole.com\/w:150\/h:150\/q:mauto\/f:best\/https:\/\/antiguanewsroom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/500X500-1.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" width=\"500\" height=\"500\"   \/><\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>With damages estimated at US$8.8 billion, recovery will require significant resources and long-term investments. Comprehensive recovery planning is already underway, focusing on critical priorities and reinforcing Jamaica\u2019s resilience. So far,&nbsp;<strong>US$12 million<\/strong>&nbsp;in grants has already been mobilized from the IDB, the WBG and CAF, with more to come.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Mobilizing Private Investment for Resilience<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Engaging private capital will be essential not only to scale up recovery efforts, but also to preserve fiscal space. The IDB Group\u2019s and World Bank Group\u2019s regional platforms are designed to blend public and private solutions from the outset. Together,<strong>&nbsp;IDB Invest&nbsp;<\/strong>and the World Bank Group\u2019s&nbsp;<strong>International Finance Corporation (IFC)&nbsp;<\/strong>and<strong>&nbsp;Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA)<\/strong>&nbsp;are actively working to attract and mobilize an initial estimate of&nbsp;<strong>US$2.4 billion<\/strong>&nbsp;in private investment to support Jamaica\u2019s recovery and reconstruction\u2014split equally between the IDB Group and the World Bank Group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>A Shared Commitment to Build Forward Better<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The World Bank Group, CAF, CDB, IDB Group, and IMF remain committed to ensuring that Jamaica&#8217;s recovery is grounded in a comprehensive and collaborative approach that leverages both international partnership and private sector engagement. By combining robust financial instruments, technical guidance, and a shared commitment to building forward better, Jamaica is well-positioned not only to restore what was lost but also to strengthen its resilience to future disasters.
