Government Plans Demolition of Unsafe Derelict Homes After 28-Day Notices, PM Says<\/strong><\/p>

Prime Minister Gaston Browne says the government has issued 28-day notices for the demolition of several unsafe and abandoned homes as part of a wider national clean-up initiative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking on the Browne and Browne Show, Browne said the notices have already gone out to homeowners. \u201cWe have given notice for a number of homes\u2026 I think it’s 28 days. You’re going to see us breaking down a ton of these\u2026 homes.<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>

The prime minister said the effort forms part of ongoing beautification and environmental enforcement measures, which include removing derelict vehicles, clearing abandoned structures, and targeting illegal dumping in several communities.<\/p>

The demolition programme is expected to focus on homes considered structurally unsafe, long-abandoned, or used for illegal dumping and squatting. Browne did not specify the locations but said the initiative will continue as part of the government\u2019s push to restore neighbourhoods and address public health risks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The timeline for the first demolitions will depend on when the 28-day notices expire.<\/p>
