As Antigua and Barbuda enters the second quarter of the 21st century, one truth stands out: national development is never accidental. It is the product of strategic planning, strong leadership, ambition, and perseverance. Yesterday\u2019s Throne Speech, delivered by His Excellency Sir Rodney Williams, was not just ceremonial\u2014it was a roadmap for the next 25 years, grounded in the achievements of the past and the vision for the future.<\/p>

A Record of Deliberate Progress<\/strong><\/p>

Twenty-five years ago, in 2000, Antigua and Barbuda\u2019s GDP stood at $802 million. Today, it exceeds $2 billion, marking a growth rate of more than 300%. This is not mere happenstance. As the Governor General declared:
\u201cOur island-state, despite setbacks, has experienced a quarter century of growth\u2014solid, stable and soaring!\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This progress occurred despite hurricanes, droughts, global financial crises, and a pandemic. It reflects a nation that refused to surrender to adversity. Antigua and Barbuda now ranks 53rd on the UN Human Development Index, ahead of every other Caribbean country<\/strong>\u2014a testament to deliberate investment in education, healthcare, and infrastructure.<\/p>
