For the second year running a Christ the King Student is the overall winner of the Harper’s Antigua Sailing Week (ASW) School Art Competition. Tiffany Dunnah\u2019s (14) colourful poster was judged as the design that fully captured the theme of \u2018Protecting our shores and seas from marine debris by eliminating single use plastic waste\u2019 .<\/p>

Rana Lewis, ASW Event Coordinator adds that this year\u2019s competition saw a cross section of styles:\u00a0 “Although, this year\u2019s theme challenged our young artists, the winning entries really rose to it and produced eye-catching work. Every year we are bowled over by the high quality of the designs the students submit. Christ the King art students have consistently produced very good work and we commend their art teacher, Ms. Rhonda Williams for ensuring that her students submit their best work. We also have to make special mention of the staff and students of the Friends of the Care Project, who\u00a0 for the first time, submitted a lovely range of mixed media art pieces. \u201c<\/p>\n

There are four categories:\u00a0 \u00a0Overall winner Dunnah; age 14-18\u00a0 winner Tequan Tavernier (17) of Antigua State College (ASC);\u00a0 T\u2019Keyah Michael (13), Christ the King, winner age 9 – 13 and\u00a0 last year\u2019s 5 \u2013 8 winner Takera Joseph, Liberra Primary School,\u00a0 won her age group.<\/p>

While Selena Luwaisa,(16) of Christ the King won the People’s Choice Award – chosen by members of the public via a Facebook campaign.<\/p>

All the winners will receive prizes from the title sponsor Harper\u2019s Office Depot and\u00a0 from The Goldmsitty, Colombian Emeralds, Stingray City,\u00a0 Adventure Antigua Eco Tour,\u00a0 Antigua Rainforest Zipline Tours and Sailors for the Sea. Dunnah\u2019s design will be printed and displayed on the Welcome billboard at Cobbs Cross junction for Antigua Sailing Week 2020. The official prize giving ceremony will take place on Dockyard Day, Saturday, May 04.<\/p>\n

This is the 52nd annual school art competition started in 1968 to encourage students and the wider community to get involved and showcase their talents.<\/p>
