Antigua and Barbuda<\/a> is forecasting its strongest tourism season on record, with 450,000 stayover visitors<\/a> and nearly one million cruise passengers <\/a>expected in 2025\u20132026. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Governor General Sir Rodney Williams<\/a> made the announcement Thursday during the Throne Speech<\/a>, crediting new investments in luxury resorts and the continued diversification of the tourism product.<\/p>

Sir Rodney said the surge in projected arrivals reflects the country\u2019s deliberate push toward higher-end development<\/a> while maintaining strong appeal to the broader market. <\/p>

Several major projects are in progress, including a new Rosewood Hotel on Barbuda\u2019s south shore<\/a>, a Nobu Resort<\/a> adjoining the existing restaurant, and expansion of the PLH development, which now operates 350 rooms. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additional Barbudan-led boutique projects are also planned through new investment partnerships.<\/p>

On Antigua, the Governor General highlighted the Nikki Beach development by Calvin Ayre and a new Marriott-branded property being completed at Yeptons Beach. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He added that high-end restaurants are joining the tourism landscape as part of a broader strategy to enhance the food and beverage offering.<\/p>

At the same time, the government is investing in capacity for the wider market, announcing plans to take a significant stake in the rehabilitation and expansion of the Jolly Beach Hotel to accommodate economy-class travellers, who remain the majority of arrivals.<\/p>

Sir Rodney said the outlook reflects the strength of ongoing marketing efforts by tourism stakeholders and \u201cthe strategic thinking of the Minister of Tourism,\u201d adding that the 2025\u20132026 season is positioned to be \u201cthe most successful year ever\u201d for the sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Throne Speech framed tourism as the backbone of Antigua and Barbuda\u2019s economic engine, noting that the industry\u2019s current momentum shows the long-term value of diversification, upgraded product offerings and sustained investment on both islands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
