The Eastern Caribbean Civil Aviation Authority<\/a> (ECCAA) says the process toward regaining the region\u2019s category one aviation<\/a> rating is continuing, with Director-general Anthony Whittier<\/a> confirming that regular coordination with U.S. authorities is already underway and will resume fully once the U.S. government reopens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe do have uh monthly meetings between our team and their team and in fact due to the recent US shutdown<\/a> we have had to you know sort of reschedule some meetings,\u201d Whittier told participants at ECCAA\u2019s legal seminar on Thursday.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSo when the government is back in in in order we will continue those interactions and I could say we have two um two milestones ahead. One is uh on-site visit prior to the assessment and then the on-site visit itself for the assessment.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Whittier said ECCAA has now completed all major regulatory reforms required for the FAA\u2019s review, including finalizing regulations tied to aviation safety management and operational practices \u2014 areas central to the assessment for restoring category one status.<\/p>

With the regulatory phase completed, ECCAA is now awaiting confirmation of the FAA technical team\u2019s preliminary visit before the formal assessment that will determine whether the region regains its top-tier rating.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
