UPP Motorcade Set For 10 A.M. Today<\/strong><\/p>

ST. JOHN\u2019S, Antigua \u2014 The United Progressive Party\u2019s island-wide motorcade is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. today, Sunday, Nov. 16, at Rising Sun Field, as the opposition renews its call for an independent investigation into what it has labeled the \u201cVehicle-Gate\u201d scandal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The motorcade, which the party says is a peaceful protest, is intended to rally public support for a probe into alleged wrongdoing within the Ministry of Public Works. UPP officials argue that only an external investigation can address what they claim is a multi-million-dollar conspiracy.<\/p>

Today\u2019s demonstration follows a series of denied event approvals earlier in the week, when police refused permission for a planned whistle-stop and an islandwide motorcade on Nov. 9. The party says it was later informed that the Nov. 16 date would be permitted.<\/p>
