National Solid Waste Management Authority (NWSMA) inspector Dale Richards is urging residents to stop littering and to help keep drains clear as cleanup operations continue across the country.<\/p>

Richards, who oversees drainage maintenance alongside community beautification teams, said clogged drains caused by garbage and construction over public gutters reduce water flow and increase flood risk. He called on the government to prohibit building over public gutters and urged nationals abroad to maintain their properties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt\u2019s irresponsible when people go overseas and leave their lands overgrown. The government ends up cleaning it,\u201d Richards said.<\/p>
