Supporters of the opposition United Progressive Party (UPP) gathered outside the Ministry of Works building on Thursday, demanding an independent forensic investigation into issues they say require greater government transparency.<\/p>

The protest, led by political activist and UPP member George Wehner, featured chants and songs as demonstrators called for accountability. Wehner led the crowd in a rendition of \u201cWe Shall Overcome,\u201d<\/em> using the civil rights anthem to underscore their determination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe want justice,\u201d Wehner declared through a loudspeaker. \u201cNot for Justin Brown to tell us that he knows what went wrong and he alone can fix it. That is not good enough. That is not democracy.\u201d<\/p>

Chants of \u201cCall the investigation now!\u201d<\/em> echoed repeatedly as protesters lined the street in front of the ministry.<\/p>

The group is calling for an independent inquiry into alleged irregularities involving the Ministry of Works. Government officials have not yet issued a formal response to the demonstration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
