Their Excellencies Sir Rodney Williams, Governor General of Antigua and Barbuda, and Lady Williams, joined by Sir Lionel Hurst, Chief of Staff in the Office of the Prime Minister, attended the official launch of the MV\u00a0Logos Hope<\/em>\u00a0on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, onboard the vessel while berthed in the St. John\u2019s Harbour.<\/p>

The ceremony formed part of the ship\u2019s return visit to Antigua and Barbuda after an eight-year hiatus, its last call being in 2017. The Logos Hope, operated by GBA Ships e.V., is renowned worldwide as \u201cthe world\u2019s largest floating book fair,\u201d sharing knowledge, help, and hope in over 140 ports across more than 70 countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During his remarks at the official launch, His Excellency Sir Rodney Williams extended a warm welcome on behalf of the Government and people of Antigua and Barbuda, commending the Logos Hope for its mission of education, literacy, and cultural exchange. He emphasised that the ship\u2019s visit presents valuable opportunities for local schools, youth organisations, and civic groups to engage with its international crew and access its vast collection of literature.<\/p>

The Governor General expressed appreciation for the dedicated crew and volunteers who continue to advance the Logos Hope\u2019s mission of global service and friendship. He highlighted the alignment between the ship\u2019s vision and Antigua and Barbuda\u2019s own commitment to education, community development, and international cooperation.<\/p>

During the ceremony, His Excellency received a commemorative plaque from the ship\u2019s Director, Mr. D\u00e9cio de Carvalho, and shared in a brief tour of the onboard book fair alongside Lady Williams, Sir Lionel Hurst, and senior crew members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The launch programme included a parade of nations, opening remarks by ship leaders and local representatives, and a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the bookfair entrance .<\/p>
