The Catholic Diocese of St. John\u2019s-Basseterre is appealing to parishioners to contribute to a regional relief effort in support of Jamaica following the devastation caused by Hurricane Melissa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a statement shared on social media, the Diocese encouraged all the faithful to make a \u201cgenerous pledge\u201d toward the Antilles Episcopal Conference (AEC) Relief Effort, with donations to be collected on the last Sunday of November. Parish priests across the Diocese will coordinate the initiative and provide additional information to parishioners.<\/p>

The AEC Disaster Relief Fund, administered through the Antilles Episcopal Conference, will channel financial assistance to affected communities. According to the campaign notice, Hurricane Melissa has \u201cseverely affected our region,\u201d prompting the Conference to coordinate humanitarian aid through financial donations.<\/p>

Supporters can contribute through several options, including wire transfers to the AEC accounts at Northern Trust (U.S. deposits), Republic Bank (Trinidad and Tobago deposits), or via the National Catholic Community Foundation\u2019s online platform. Donors are asked to indicate \u201cHurricane Melissa Relief\u201d on transfers and send confirmation to aecfinance@gmail.com<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Diocese\u2019s appeal emphasizes unity and compassion in the aftermath of the storm, urging members of the Catholic community to \u201cgive hope after the storm\u201d and stand in solidarity with those rebuilding their lives across the region.<\/p>
