and distribution scandal at the Ministry of Works, denouncing what he described as \u201chypocrisy\u201d by Prime Minister Gaston Browne for resisting a public inquiry while targeting opposition width=\"1080\" height=\"1350\"   \/><\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking on the picket line outside the Ministry of Works, Dr. Spencer said he is \u201ctotally and completely in favor\u201d of the United Progressive Party\u2019s (UPP) demand for an impartial investigation to \u201cget to the root of the matter\u201d and restore public confidence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe class=\"youtube-vid\" title=\"Former PM Winston that this happens,\u201d Spencer said. \u201cThe nation of Antigua and Barbuda is really down the pits with all these things happening.\u201d He argued that the inquiry should be conducted width=\"1080\" height=\"1350\"   \/><\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Spencer took aim at Prime Minister Browne\u2019s claim that an inquiry would amount to a \u201cname and shame exercise,\u201d noting that the Prime Minister had previously pursued legal action against three former ministers over the community use of government vehicles. \u201cThe Prime Minister recognizes the gravity of the situation and the fact that he and his wife are implicated,\u201d Spencer said. \u201cIt\u2019s a question of not wanting to go the route of a public inquiry because of that connection\u201d.<\/p><div in this case will face whatever they have to face.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The former Prime Minister also criticized Browne\u2019s recent remarks about national hero Sir Vivian Richards, calling them \u201cmost unfortunate.\u201d Browne reportedly dismissed Richards\u2019s call for accountability in the scandal. \u201cIt was most unfortunate to hear the Prime Minister speaking in those terms with respect to Sir Vivian,\u201d Spencer said. \u201cHe is respected worldwide as one of the chief architects of sports in the world \u2014 not only a hero for Antigua and Barbuda, but for the entire
