PM Says LIAT to Add Another Aircraft as Government Boosts Investment<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Prime Minister Gaston Browne <\/a>says regional carrier LIAT <\/a>is set to add another aircraft<\/a> to its fleet within the coming weeks as part of the government\u2019s continuing effort to rebuild the airline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Browne said the administration is making available an additional US $4 million<\/a><\/strong> to cover the cost of parts and other requirements for the new aircraft.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

He added that the government has already invested about US $50 million<\/strong> in LIAT\u2019s revival to ensure the airline\u2019s long-term sustainability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Prime Minister noted that the airline\u2019s progress reflects the strength of Antigua and Barbuda\u2019s economy, which has enabled major capital investments across key sectors. <\/p>

\u201cWe bought seven fire trucks, ten garbage trucks, and US $21 million worth of heavy equipment for Public Works,\u201d Browne said, adding that the government\u2019s financial position has allowed it to make similar investments in air transportation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Browne described LIAT\u2019s expansion as a sign of renewed confidence in regional connectivity and the country\u2019s role as a hub for inter-Caribbean travel.<\/p>
