Prime Minister Gaston Browne has reiterated his government\u2019s zero-tolerance stance on corruption, emphasizing that no member of his household is permitted to engage in government contracts and that all irregular transactions will be met with restitution or criminal prosecution.<\/p>

In his Independence Day address, Browne said his administration\u2019s policy of integrity and transparency<\/strong> remains non-negotiable and is enforced at the highest level of government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOur government\u2019s entrenched policy \u2014 adopted and enforced by Cabinet \u2014 precludes me and anyone in my household from engaging in any form of government contracting or procurement,\u201d Browne said. \u201cThat safeguard exists precisely to ensure that the Office of the Prime Minister remains beyond reproach \u2014 and I have always respected it.\u201d<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Browne referenced a recent case involving unauthorized government vehicle transactions<\/strong>, saying the administration acted \u201cimmediately and decisively, without fear or favour.\u201d According to him, a Ministry of Finance review was ordered, corrective measures were applied, and restitution was made to the Treasury.<\/p>

\u201cNo favour was shown, no cover was given,\u201d Browne said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

He added that oversight across customs and procurement systems is being strengthened to prevent abuse and under-invoicing, and that any repeat offences will be pursued criminally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLet this be understood: my government will never defend wrongdoing; we will correct it,\u201d Browne said. \u201cWhen offences occur, penalties will be heavy \u2014 and the proceeds will go directly into the Treasury as \u2018Monetary Restitution.\u2019\u201d<\/p>

Browne said integrity remains the cornerstone of his administration\u2019s governance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
