Prime Minister Gaston Browne announced that an additional two million gallons of water per day<\/strong> will be added to the national supply by the end of next month, bringing Antigua and Barbuda closer to resolving the long-standing issue of water shortages that has affected residents for generations.<\/p>

In his Independence Day address marking the nation\u2019s 44th anniversary, Browne said the new production capacity represents one of the most significant steps toward reliable access to clean, potable water across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are determined to ensure that every household and every business enjoys reliable, clean, potable water,\u201d Browne said, calling the development a symbol of \u201cindependence in motion.\u201d<\/p>

The Prime Minister also outlined a series of major infrastructure projects<\/strong> that reflect the country\u2019s rapid modernization. These include the ongoing $150 million upgrade of VC Bird International Airport<\/strong> and the planned expansion of Barbuda\u2019s airport<\/strong>, which is expected to begin next year.<\/p>

Meanwhile, the government\u2019s road-rebuilding programme<\/strong> continues across the island, with major routes restored and dozens of community roads resurfaced in areas including Potters, Parham, Bolans, and Bethesda<\/strong>. Reconstruction of the All Saints Road<\/strong> is set to begin once the Antigua Public Utilities Authority completes re-piping in the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Browne said these projects demonstrate the government\u2019s commitment to building a resilient, connected, and forward-looking nation.<\/p>
