Nation to celebrate 12 honorees at Independence Parade and Food Fair<\/strong><\/p>

Twelve outstanding Antiguans and Barbudans will be honoured on Monday as part of the nation\u2019s 44th Independence celebrations, including five individuals who will be knighted<\/strong> for distinguished service to national development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Director-General of Communications Maurice Merchant said the awards ceremony will take place at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium<\/strong> during the Independence Parade and Food Fair<\/strong>, beginning at 5 p.m. The honorees will be recognized for their contributions to education, community service, nursing, artistic and cultural development, and youth empowerment<\/strong>.<\/p>

Merchant described the national honours as a highlight of the Independence festivities, which also include National Dress Day and the annual food fair. He said the government views the honours as a reflection of the country\u2019s gratitude toward citizens who have made significant contributions to Antigua and Barbuda\u2019s progress.<\/p>
