An Antiguan woman<\/a> has pleaded guilty to using forged cheques<\/a> to obtain more than $2,000<\/a> from a wholesale business in 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jahmalier Grant admitted in court to three counts of obtaining money by false pretence, totalling $2,300, through forged cheques valued at $900, $500 and $900.<\/p>

The offences took place during three separate transactions between 7 and 9 September 2022 on Lower Market Street.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Grant initially claimed an unidentified man had given her the cheques to deposit but later confessed to forging them herself. The cheques were reportedly stolen during a residential burglary in which an entire chequebook was taken.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She denied six related charges of forgery and uttering forged documents, which prosecutors agreed to drop following her guilty plea.<\/p>

Sentencing is scheduled for 18 November.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
