Defence attorney Andrew O\u2019Kola has called on Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Clement Joseph to issue a public apology following a verbal confrontation at the High Court last Friday.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

O\u2019Kola said he was \u201cpublicly and unjustifiably verbally attacked\u201d by the DPP in front of court staff, media personnel and members of the public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The altercation reportedly occurred as O\u2019Kola passed through the hallway where Joseph was seated. According to O\u2019Kola, the DPP criticised a letter he had written, telling him he was \u201cdoing too much\u201d before launching into a loud tirade.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt is deeply regrettable that this incident happened in a public space,\u201d O\u2019Kola said in a statement, adding that such behaviour undermines public confidence in the justice system.<\/p>

He stressed his duty to \u201cfearlessly represent\u201d clients while upholding professional integrity and called for mutual respect within the administration of justice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

O\u2019Kola said the DPP\u2019s conduct warranted a public apology but reaffirmed his commitment to the rule of law and independent legal advocacy.<\/p>
