The Antigua and Barbuda National Association (ABNA) UK hosted its Annual Independence Church Service on Sunday at the Moravian Church, Priory Road, London, marking the nation\u2019s 44th Anniversary of Independence under the fitting theme, \u201cSolid, Stable, and Soaring.\u201d<\/em><\/p>

The service brought together generations of Antiguans and Barbudans \u2013 from the trailblazers who migrated to the United Kingdom in the 1950s and 1960s, to a new wave of young professionals proudly carrying the nation\u2019s legacy forward. The atmosphere was one of reflection, pride, and renewal, capturing the true Antiguan and Barbudan spirit through steelpan performances, poetry, and song.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In her first official address as President of ABNA UK, Mrs. Lyndia Bowers<\/em> expressed deep gratitude for the confidence placed in her leadership and outlined a renewed vision for the Association. \u201cABNA UK is more than just an association, it is the living heartbeat of the Antiguan and Barbudan diaspora in the United Kingdom,\u201d she said. \u201cWe are a family bound by heritage, culture, pride, and a deep love for our twin-island nation.\u201d<\/p>

President Bowers called on members, both longstanding and newly joined, to bring their \u201cenergy, talents, and ideas to the table,\u201d<\/em> pledging to build an association that honours its roots while creating \u201ca legacy of excellence for the generations to come.\u201d<\/em> She also expressed appreciation to Mr. Everton George, outgoing President, for his exemplary service and unwavering commitment to ABNA UK, noting that he \u201claid a strong foundation that will be built upon with integrity and purpose.\u201d<\/p>

Her Excellency Karen-Mae Hill, High Commissioner for Antigua and Barbuda to the United Kingdom, delivered heartfelt greetings on behalf of Prime Minister Gaston Browne and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Trade and Barbuda Affairs, the Honourable E.P. Chet Greene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In her remarks, Her Excellency Hill expressed gratitude to the Antiguan and Barbudan community for their continued unity and support and extended special thanks to Mr. George for his years of faithful leadership.<\/p>

The High Commissioner also shared exciting updates about Antigua and Barbuda\u2019s preparation to host the 2026 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), describing it as \u201can unparalleled opportunity to project the maturity and achievements of our 44-year-old nation to the world.\u201d<\/em><\/p>
