Prime Minister Gaston Browne<\/strong> took aim at opposition politician Harold Lovell<\/strong> during a town hall meeting in Seaview Farm<\/strong>, urging residents of All Saints West<\/strong> to reject the United Progressive Party\u2019s (UPP) candidate in the next general elections.<\/p>

Browne described Lovell as a \u201cspent force<\/strong>\u201d and \u201cdelusional<\/strong>,\u201d questioning his ability to represent the constituency and accusing him of decades of political failure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cA spent force. A man who is 70 years of age. The Bible says what? Three score and ten,\u201d Browne said. \u201cSo nothing tall futuristic about him. Now, a 70-year-old man can\u2019t have no energy. But he\u2019s going around telling people that he\u2019s younger than Comrade Smith. I say better look at me.\u201d<\/p>

The Prime Minister contrasted Lovell\u2019s record with that of Hon. Anthony Smith Jr.<\/strong>, who recently aligned himself with the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) after leaving the UPP. He praised Smith as a young leader with \u201cenergy and ambition\u201d who represents the constituency\u2019s future.<\/p>

\u201cI want the people of All Saints West to understand that by supporting this young man, Comrade Smith, you are literally supporting the future,\u201d Browne said. \u201cWhy would anyone want to go back to a candidate who is on rewind? We are moving forward\u2014he\u2019s on rewind.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Browne also criticized Lovell\u2019s performance as the former MP for St. John\u2019s City East<\/strong>, claiming that his former constituents rejected him repeatedly and that he failed to deliver on basic community improvements.<\/p>

\u201cThe place where he came from, City East, where he spent practically all his life\u2014they rejected him eight out of ten times,\u201d Browne said. \u201cHe was finance minister and representative, and he didn\u2019t see the Bishopgate Street Clinic in disrepair. It took Gaston Browne in 2014 to get the People\u2019s Republic of China to build a new polyclinic in Villa.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Browne concluded by warning that electing Lovell would \u201creverse progress\u201d in All Saints West, saying, \u201cIt is for the people of this constituency to send Harold Lovell a firm message\u2014go back from whence you came.\u201d<\/p>
