The Cabinet of Antigua and Barbuda is closely monitoring the Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA)<\/strong> as it intensifies efforts to curb electricity theft<\/strong> following reports of some businesses allegedly bypassing electricity meters<\/strong> to avoid paying for usage.<\/p>

According to Director General of Communications Maurice Merchant<\/strong>, the Cabinet was briefed on APUA\u2019s findings and the measures being implemented to strengthen monitoring and enforcement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Merchant said APUA has begun introducing new technology capable of detecting tampering and unauthorized connections<\/strong>, allowing the utility to identify irregular consumption patterns in real time.<\/p>
