The Director of the Antigua and Barbuda Meteorological Service (ABMS), Dale Destin, has underscored the critical link between climate and food security as the nation joins the global observance of World Food Day 2025.<\/p>

This year\u2019s celebration is being held under the theme \u201cHand in Hand for Better Foods and a Better Future.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a message marking the occasion, Destin said the ABMS recognizes the vital connection between climate conditions and agricultural productivity. He noted that the Met Office continues to support farmers and planners through weather and climate services that help guide key decisions on planting, irrigation, and disaster preparedness.<\/p>

\u201cThrough our weather and climate services, we help farmers and planners make informed decisions \u2014 from when to plant and irrigate to how to prepare for droughts, floods, or storms that can threaten our crops and livelihoods,\u201d Destin said.<\/p>

He emphasized that collaboration between the ABMS, the Ministry of Agriculture, and the farming community remains essential to building resilience and ensuring that climate information supports smarter choices for food production.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Destin said these partnerships are key to achieving the United Nations\u2019 Sustainable Development Goal 2 \u2014 Zero Hunger \u2014 and to securing \u201cbetter foods and a better future\u201d for all Antiguans and Barbudans.<\/p>
