Following a strong campaign in the FIA Euro RX3 European Championship, where he secured third place overall, Nicolas Geleyns returned to action last weekend in the French Rallycross Championship at the Dreux circuit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was an opportunity the Antigua-based driver seized brilliantly, delivering another standout performance under the familiar colors of Volland Racing.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Up against a highly competitive 27-car field, Geleyns made his presence felt once again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In four events contested on French soil this year, he collected two podium finishes \u2014 including a second place this Sunday, marking his best result to date in the national series, with 34 points scored out of a possible 41.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019m really happy with how the weekend went. I could have done better in qualifying, but I managed to correct my mistakes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I ended up third in Q2, which put me back on track for the rest of the weekend. <\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Later on, even though I still ran into a few issues here and there, I\u2019m really pleased with how I performed in the final. <\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The winner, Valentin [Lumet], drove a great race, but I wasn\u2019t far off in terms of outright pace. It\u2019s a great way to close out the season.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indeed, on a track where many of his rivals had the home advantage, Geleyns not only finished third in the intermediate standings after the heats, but also clocked the second-fastest lap of the entire weekend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Asked what he felt had been missing in the battle for victory, Geleyns pointed to fine-tuning rather than major shortcomings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEven though the tires used in the French championship are different from those I\u2019m used to in Euro RX, the adjustment came pretty naturally. I think there are still two or three spots on the track where I can shave off a few tenths.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the final, I was just a tenth off Valentin Lumet\u2019s pace on a flying lap. I put together a very strong joker lap \u2014 maybe even the best of the race \u2014 so that\u2019s a big positive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s all about small refinements now. But overall, I\u2019m happy \u2014 we laid down solid lap times and raised our game when it mattered in the final.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With a strong finish to his season \u2014 first in Turkey, now in Dreux \u2014 Nicolas Geleyns already has his sights set on 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis sets a great tone for next year. Over the off-season, I\u2019ll keep working on my racing lines, staying calmer in the car, and avoiding charging in headfirst without thinking. I\u2019m really focused on becoming more precise, more clear-headed. At the start of the year, I struggled to stay composed when stuck behind another driver. Now, I\u2019ve learned to wait, to observe, to capitalize on their mistakes instead of forcing the issue. That\u2019s real progress. I feel like I\u2019m on the right path. And for 2026, the goal is clear: fight for the European title and aim for the top step of the podium.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
