Three men<\/a> accused of firearms and ammunition<\/a> offences will face trial in the High Court<\/a> when the new criminal assizes begin in January 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Senior Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel<\/strong><\/a> ordered the committal this week for Judeah Francis<\/strong> of Potters, Jaquan Davis<\/strong> of Skerritts Pasture, and Devonne Burton<\/strong> of Paynters.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

They are jointly accused of possessing two pistols<\/strong> \u2014 a black 9mm and a black Desert Eagle 41\/44 magnum \u2014 along with 14 rounds of ammunition<\/strong> while travelling on the Sir Sydney Walling Highway<\/strong> on June 12, 2024<\/strong>.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The trio also faces charges of attempting to use the weapons in the commission of an offence, while Francis faces an additional count of dangerous driving<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Police said the men were detained during a joint police and Defence Force operation<\/strong>, in which officers stopped a grey Toyota Vitz<\/strong> and allegedly found the weapons, ammunition, and masks inside.<\/p>

During the committal proceedings, prosecutors submitted 14 exhibits<\/strong> and advised that seven witnesses<\/strong> are expected to testify when the case proceeds to trial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All three have been released on bail<\/strong> granted by a High Court judge pending the outcome of the proceedings.<\/p>
