A tropical storm warning<\/strong> has been issued for parts of the Northern Leeward Islands<\/strong> as Tropical Storm Jerry<\/strong> tracks closer to the region, with forecasters warning of strong winds, heavy rain, and rough seas<\/strong> later this evening and into tonight.<\/p>

The National Hurricane Center (NHC)<\/strong> said Jerry is expected to pass near or just north of the Leeward Islands<\/strong> within the next several hours. Maximum sustained winds were last recorded near [insert latest figure, e.g., 65 mph (100 km\/h)]<\/strong>, with higher gusts possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Officials have warned of flash flooding<\/strong> in low-lying areas and hazardous marine conditions<\/strong> around coastal waters.<\/p>

The NHC said tropical storm-force winds and heavy rainfall are expected to reach the warning areas through early Friday. Swells generated by Jerry are also forecast to affect the Lesser Antilles<\/strong>, producing dangerous surf and rip currents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meteorologists say Jerry could experience slight strengthening<\/strong> before encountering less favourable conditions over the weekend.<\/p>
